When I look at a scene that makes enough of an impression on me to begin to try to decipher it, I am usualy thinking about shapes, lines, the play of light throughout. I am always amazed at the diversity in the natural world, the changes and its moods. A landscape never looks the same twice. Every moment is unique, every scene speaks to us differently, another story, another passage of light playing off the dark. This image was taken on a hike along the park's Highline Trail. Intermittent clouds and showers were part of the afternoon walk but at sunset the clouds opened just before the sun went behind the mountains creating one last blast of light for the day. |
